Shikaku
Divide the board into rectangles, each containing exactly one number.
Tutorial: Shikaku
How to Play:
- Every empty cell must be covered by exactly one rectangle—no gaps, no overlaps.
- Each rectangle must contain exactly one number.
- The number inside a rectangle must equal the total number of squares covered by that rectangle.
- Rectangles can be any width or height (1×n or n×1 or n×m).
- Tap and drag to draw a rectangle, or tap cells to select them.
- Start with numbers that have few possible rectangles.
- For example, if you see '2', it could be a 1×2 or 2×1 rectangle only.
- Eliminate possibilities as you go—each rectangle placed reduces options for neighbors.
- The board is solved when every cell is covered by exactly one rectangle.
Pro Tips:
- Look for numbers at edges—they have fewer rectangle options than numbers in the middle.
- A '1' must be a single cell—place it immediately.
- Large numbers (like '12' in a 4×4 grid) have limited arrangements.
- Work from constrained numbers outward to open up the board.
- If a region is blocked off, you must cover it with the remaining number.
